You Are Stronger Than You Think God Will Give You Strength for What Lies Ahead

Published on 9 September 2026 at 14:02

There are seasons in life when you may look at everything happening around you and wonder, “How am I going to get through this?”

Perhaps you have been carrying responsibilities that feel too heavy. Maybe you have experienced disappointment, loss, change, rejection, uncertainty, or simply the exhaustion that comes from being strong for everyone else.

You may even feel like you have reached the end of your strength.

But here is the beautiful truth: you were never meant to live by your own strength.

There is a strength available to you that comes from God.

You may feel weak, but God is not weak.
You may feel tired, but God never grows weary.
You may not know what tomorrow holds, but God already knows the way.

And sometimes, what we call weakness is actually the place where God invites us to discover just how strong we can be when we lean completely on Him.

Your Strength Comes From God

The Bible says:

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

Notice that Scripture does not say, “They that have everything figured out shall renew their strength.”

It says those who wait upon the LORD.

Waiting on God means trusting Him, even when you cannot see what He is doing.

It means saying:

“Lord, I don't know how this is going to work out, but I trust You.”

“Lord, I don't feel strong enough, but I know You are my strength.”

“Lord, I cannot see the way forward, but I know You are already there.”

And when we place our weakness in God's hands, He gives us strength that we could never produce by ourselves.

You Have Survived More Than You Realise

Sometimes we are so focused on what we are facing now that we forget what God has already brought us through.

Think about your journey.

There were things you once thought would break you.

There were moments you cried when nobody was watching.

There were situations you didn't understand.

There were doors that closed that you desperately wanted to remain open.

There were seasons when you wondered whether you would ever feel like yourself again.

Yet here you are.

You are still standing.

You are still believing.

You are still moving forward.

And perhaps you don't feel particularly strong today—but look at what God has already carried you through.

Your testimony is evidence that God has been faithful.

Elijah Became Tired Too

One of the most powerful reminders that even God's people can become exhausted is found in the life of Elijah.

Elijah had just experienced an incredible victory, yet shortly afterwards he became afraid, discouraged and exhausted.

He ran into the wilderness and eventually sat under a juniper tree and wanted to die.

The man who had stood boldly for God had reached a point where he felt he could not continue.

But God did not condemn Elijah for being tired.

Instead, God cared for him.

He allowed him to rest. He provided food and water. And then God strengthened him for the journey ahead.

What a beautiful picture of God's compassion.

God understands when you are tired.

He understands when you have been carrying too much.

He understands when you need to stop and breathe.

Rest does not mean you have failed.

Sometimes rest is part of God's preparation for the next assignment.

David Had Moments of Weakness

David was a mighty warrior, a king and a man after God's own heart.

But David also experienced seasons of fear, discouragement and distress.

There were times when enemies pursued him. There were times when he felt alone. There were times when he had to encourage himself.

The Bible says:

“And David was greatly distressed; for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved... but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.”  1 Samuel 30:6 (KJV)

David had every reason to feel overwhelmed.

But he knew where to go.

He encouraged himself in the Lord.

Sometimes there may not be someone beside you to encourage you.

Sometimes you have to remind yourself:

God is still with me.

God has not abandoned me.

God will make a way.

I will not give up.

Paul Discovered Strength in Weakness

The Apostle Paul also understood what it meant to feel weak.

He prayed for God to remove a particular difficulty from his life, but God's answer was not to remove it.

Instead, God told him:

“My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.”
2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)

What an extraordinary truth.

God's strength does not require us to pretend that we are strong all the time.

In fact, sometimes it is in our weakest moments that we discover His strength most clearly.

You don't have to pretend before God.

You can say:

“Lord, I am tired.”

“Lord, I am hurting.”

“Lord, I don't know what to do.”

And God can meet you right there.

Stop Underestimating What God Has Put Inside You

Perhaps you have been looking at yourself through the eyes of your circumstances.

Your circumstances say:

“You can't.”

But God says:

“I can strengthen you.”

Your circumstances say:

“It's too late.”

But God says:

“I am still working.”

Your circumstances say:

“You are not capable.”

But God says:

“My grace is sufficient.”

Don't allow a difficult season to make you forget who you are in Christ.

You are not defined by your failures.

You are not defined by your disappointments.

You are not defined by the opinions of others.

You are not defined by your age, your past, your mistakes or your current circumstances.

Your identity is found in God.

And when God calls you to something, He is able to give you everything you need to fulfil it.

You Don't Need Strength for the Whole Journey Today

One reason we become overwhelmed is because we try to carry tomorrow today.

We think about everything that needs to happen.

We think about all the decisions we need to make.

We think about every possible outcome.

And suddenly, today's burden becomes ten times heavier because we have added tomorrow's burdens to it.

But Jesus said:

“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.”
Matthew 6:34 (KJV)

God gives you grace for today.

You don't need tomorrow's strength today.

You don't need next month's wisdom today.

You don't need to know every detail of the journey today.

Simply take the next step with God.

One day at a time.
One prayer at a time.
One step at a time.

When You Feel Weak, Wait on God

Isaiah 40:31 gives us a beautiful instruction:

Wait upon the LORD.

Waiting does not mean doing nothing.

Waiting means trusting.

It means remaining connected to God while He works.

It means continuing to pray.

Continuing to believe.

Continuing to obey.

Continuing to worship.

Even when you cannot yet see the answer.

And as you wait, God renews your strength.

Perhaps you have been asking God to change your circumstances.

Maybe God is also using this season to strengthen you.

Because sometimes the greatest miracle isn't simply that God changes what's around us.

Sometimes the miracle is that God changes us in the middle of it.

There Is More Ahead of You

If God has brought you this far, don't assume that your story ends here.

There may be chapters you haven't read yet.

There may be prayers that have not yet been answered.

There may be doors you haven't seen.

There may be opportunities you haven't imagined.

There may be people whose lives you are still going to touch.

There may be things God wants to accomplish through you that you cannot yet see.

So don't give up simply because this chapter is difficult.

A difficult chapter does not mean it is the end of your story.

Keep trusting the Author.

Keep walking with Him.

Keep believing.

What Should You Do When You Feel You Have No Strength?

1. Go back to God's Word

When your emotions are shouting fear, let God's Word speak louder.

Find Scriptures that remind you of God's faithfulness and speak them over your life.

2. Pray honestly

You don't need impressive words.

Talk to God from your heart.

Tell Him exactly how you feel.

3. Rest when you need to rest

You are not a machine.

There are times when your body, mind and spirit need restoration.

4. Stop comparing your journey

God's plan for you is not someone else's plan.

You don't need to run someone else's race.

5. Take the next step

You may not know the whole road.

That's okay.

Ask God:

“Lord, what is the next step?”

Then take it.

6. Remember what God has already done

Keep a record of answered prayers, breakthroughs and moments when God made a way.

When another difficult season comes, you can look back and say:

“If God did it before, He can do it again.”

A Word for the Woman Who Feels Tired Today

If you are reading this and quietly thinking, “I don't know how much longer I can keep going,” I want to encourage you:

Don't give up.

You may be tired, but you are not finished.

You may be weary, but you are not forgotten.

You may feel weak, but you are not without help.

You may not see the way, but God does.

And you may not know what the future holds, but you know Who holds the future.

Let God carry what you cannot carry.

Let Him strengthen what has become weak.

Let Him heal what has been wounded.

Let Him restore what has been depleted.

And let Him remind you that your strength does not come from having everything together. Your strength comes from Him.

Let us Prayer

My Loving Heavenly Father,

Thank You that when I am weak, You are strong.

Thank You that I don't have to face tomorrow in my own strength. You are with me, and Your grace is sufficient for me.

Lord, for every woman reading this who is tired, discouraged or overwhelmed, I ask that You renew her strength.

Give her grace for today.

Give her wisdom for the decisions she needs to make.

Give her courage to keep moving forward.

Heal her heart where she has been wounded.

Restore her joy where life has drained it.

Remind her of everything You have already brought her through.

Help her to wait upon You and trust Your timing.

When she cannot see the way, remind her that You are the Way.

When she feels weak, let her experience Your strength.

And when she feels like giving up, remind her that You are not finished with her yet.

May she rise again with renewed strength, renewed faith and renewed hope.

In Jesus' mighty name I pray, Amen.

A Final Word of Encouragement

Dear woman of God, you are stronger than you think! But more importantly, God is stronger than anything you will ever face.

Don't measure your future by how you feel today.

Don't measure God's faithfulness by what you can currently see.

Don't allow one difficult season to convince you that your best days are behind you.

Keep going.

Keep trusting.

Keep praying.

Keep believing.

Keep walking with God.

And remember the promise:

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength...”
 Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

Your strength is being renewed.

Your faith is being strengthened.

Your story is still unfolding.

And God will give you strength for what lies ahead.
